Really only big enough for dwarf hamsters or robos but they have trouble climbing the steps unless you add some sort of grip. The wheels are very loud compared to some other products on the market. Overall a lot of metal and plastic they enjoy biting through (not healthy) and when my last hamsters got older, it became harder for them to climb the steps at all, even with the added DIY grips. Also there just isn’t a lot of lateral space so they can’t really move around too much. So overall this cage is more appealing visually to the consumer than it is good for the health of your hamster. I prefer products with a wider space for them to roam, and having switched to one, my hamsters seem less irritated.

Its JUNK. Purchased Fall 2021, Just opened and can’t return. This item I’m sure was a return from another customer. Pure Junk.

We have a dwarf hamster that lives in this cage. Both stairs have a hole in the middle. That means your hamster can fall 3 stories down! I taped over both holes and added cardboard to eliminate the holes. The wheel is misshapen and does not spin. I wish there was a way to contact the manufacturer and have them send just the plastic wheel. Returning the whole cage is not an option. I like how it sits on a small footprint but there may be better choices.

I would have given this 5 stars but my gerbils have chewed just about every piece of this up. The ladders were gone in a week and they have even chewed through the cube walls. They are quite the gymnasts though and can still pull themselves up to each level. Also, the water bottle didn’t work for me at all but it was easy and cheap for a better replacement. I find that cleaning the cage can be a little difficult as you need to remove all the cubes to really get it clean. All that being said it is a nice size and gives the gerbils room to be “alone” if they want. If your small pet doesn’t chew so much it would probably be fine.

easy to clean with the pull-out tray, my favorite reasons and makes it worth the purchase. The wheel is too small for our hampster. I love the food dishes are higher up and helps keep it clean, the squares keep the dish in place. The water bottle needed a little zip tie to keep it higher up probably because our hampster is a little bigger. It is easy for kids to open and close on their own. Our other critter tunnels did not connect which was a disappointment but not the worst thing. I would recommended this product again and would buy more of the products.

This item has some drawbacks, but they are mostly worth it.This is ideal for a smaller hamster. I usually removed some pieces of the sides of a few cubes so I could customize the cage and make room for a running saucer up-top. Went through two of these in the time my hamster was alive and I loved it because it was the biggest hamster cage I could find and it’s easy to rearrange to keep them interested in exploring.Miss seeing it in my apt with my cute critter inside!

I like the cage because it has no tubes you can hook up tubes to it, but my little guy likes to pee down them so we dont have them. I lke the slide out tray, i would recommend getting a different water bottle and wheel I have a teddy bear hamster and the wheel is no where big enough for him, i just bought one of them silent spinners and hooked it to the wire part on the first floor

This is NOT for a smaller animal. It is incredibly difficult to maneuver, especially for a smaller animal. I purchased this for my roborovsky and it is much, much too big for him. He stayed on the bottom level and couldn’t reach his food and water. It would work for a regular hamster, gerbil, etc. — but it’s much too small for them. The space is very limited. The blocks also fall off a lot, too. Construction is awful and it’s hard to keep it together. Worst cage I’ve ever dealt with.Your best bet is an aquarium cage. Preferably a reptile cage without the odds and ends. Petsmart sells a nice one with a wire lid. MUCH better for your hamster and very easy to clean.
